Men’s Center

Alpha Grand Rapids (AGR) operates two centers: Alpha Women’s Center (AWC) and Alpha Men’s Center (AMC). Both facilities are located just outside of downtown Grand Rapids and offer a variety of services, all of which are free and confidential. See below for more information about each center, or check out our Get Involved page for ways to support the work that is happening here!

Women’s Center

Alpha Women’s Center has been operating in Grand Rapids since 1985. We strive to create a warm, welcoming, safe environment for people to find help and hope during times of struggle. It has been exciting to watch this center continue to reach an increasing number individuals and families through comprehensive services and genuine care.

Alpha was built on the mindset that people benefit most from receiving both tangible help and emotional/spiritual support. Over the years, more programs were developed to provide comprehensive services that meet a variety of needs and help individuals and families grow stronger. We are committed to continuing to meet the needs of our community and support the people who walk through our doors.

Men’s Center

The goal of Alpha Grand Rapids (AGR) is to improve the lives of people in our community and impact generations in a positive way. Over the last few decades, we have mainly focused on reaching women and children through comprehensive services and compassionate care. However, it is obvious that we need to do more. True generational change will happen best when whole families, including men, have the support and resources they need.

In the fall of 2015, Alpha Women’s Center was able to purchase the property right next door to our current location. Since that time, we have done a great deal of both local and national research, client surveys, and feasibility studies. We now have a plan for moving forward. Two things are clear: first, men are asking for similar services that we provide to women. Second, the existing building on the property will not be possible to renovate. Therefore, we have plans to build a new building in its place. Demolition and construction will begin soon!

“Is it possible to create a place where a young man could come and begin to learn what it is to be a genuine man or, you know, what it is to be a dad?

We are so excited to launch this one-of-a-kind center, and we would love to share more information with you. If you want to know more about the programs that will be offered, the funding needed for our Capital Campaign, or how to get involved as a volunteer, let’s talk!
